Webasto is the pioneer among automotive suppliers for the integration of switchable glazing in panoramic roofs. At the touch of a button, the glass cover darkens and provides pleasant shade and privacy on request. This works by means of films that are integrated into the glass. These change their light transmission by means of electrical control signals. The technology takes individual wishes into account - the shading can also be activated for individual segments of the roof only. Webasto also combines this elegant shading option with integrated light in the glass.

Thanks to integrated solar cells in a glass roof, valuable kilometres can now be covered with additional solar power in the course of electromobility. An American manufacturer, for example, has installed an openable solar roof from Webasto in its SUV and, depending on the conditions, calculates up to 3,000 additional kilometres per year. The solar energy generated can also be optimally utilised for air conditioning the interior. "But it's not always just about the benefits. A modern, attractively designed solar roof from Webasto is a statement for sustainability and the environmental awareness of the vehicle buyer," says Mehlfeldt. The first Webasto solar roof was installed in an Audi 80 Coupé back in 1989. Since then, the supplier has consistently focussed on this sustainable technology.
